The Caledonia is "engineered for the modern road" with a lightweight frame of under 3.5 pounds and a shorter wheelbase. Plus, the Caledonia 105 has a trail and head tube angle similar to the Aspero—not to mention clearance for 34mm tires—it is well-suited for tackling the roads less traveled while preserving the sharp handling of a dedicated road bike.

Cervelo also focuses on carbon layup with a mindset of increased rider comfort resulting in energy savings to ride faster for longer. In addition, Cervelo blends compliance and stiffness into Caledonia's carbon layup to provide a smoother ride that mitigates the jarring effects of rough pavement without sacrificing the benefits of a stiff front end and bottom bracket area. Internal cable routing is available, although not integrated through the stem junction as in the Caledonia-5. Also, hidden fender mounts are onboard, which minimally reduces tire clearance down to 31mm when used with fenders.
